Chamonix is considered to be the
most spectacular and scenic ski area in the world, with
Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain as a constant
backdrop. Chamonix has its own unique character with an
"all-year-round" season. It is a great place
for the non-skier, with an excellent collection of shops
restaurants and bars, an alpine museum and exhibitions
and an ex-Olympic sports centre with indoor and outdoor
pools. Take a trip to the highest cable car station in Europe, to the summit of the "Aiguille du Midi" at 3842m for breathtaking panoramic views of the Alps or the rack and pinion railway up to the spectacular Mer de Glace (sea of ice) and the Vallee Blanche, the longest glacier in Europe. |

The goal for all good skiers is to ski the Grands Montets in Argentiere, where you have the stuff dreams are really made of. Wide open fields of powder, off-piste possibilities and, now with the improved lifts, an almost 'no waiting' service taking you to a piste system which offers the intermediate and better skier a terrain unparalleled in the world.
The Mont Blanc ski pass also covers Les Contamines, whose snow record is the envy of most of the Alps. Wide open slopes with mainly intermediate runs and a good range of skiing for beginners as well as better skiers and great off-piste opportunities St Gervais
and Megeve is a huge intermediate's paradise with lots of
long blue and red runs. The difficult skiing here is
mainly off-piste and, because not many people ski it,
untracked snow can be found long after that in most
places.
